HARD in the CITY.

The hard thing about city life

Is that lovers get imported in an endless supply.

Five minutes after I say goodnight

You can find yourself with yet another Mr. Right.

Today, you’re with me

But baby, there are six other days in the week.

I wish you’d stay with me,

You’ve got so many places to be.

It’s hard in the city when you’re so damn young,

And you’re ready to get steady, but the only one.

Tryin’ to get some honey, but I just get stung

Is there anybody out there who is not yet numb?

Today, you’re with me,

But baby, there are six other days in the week.

I wish you’d stay with me,

You got so many people to see.

Seven days a week

You’re with somebody

And six of them aren’t me.

I can hardly take it,

And yet I tolerate it.

Tell me what they got

That I guess I do not?

It’s hard in the city,

So damn hard in the city.

You’ll go far in the city

If you’re hard and you’re pretty.
